Pubblicazioni Records
Pubblicazioni records are marriage banns. At one time, when a couple intended on getting married, they would have to go to the state civil office (or casa comunale - town hall) and do their marriage banns. In attendance were th intended groom, his mother and father, the intended bride and her father and mother and several witnesses. All the parents had to approve of the marriage. Once they reported their marriage bann it would be posted outside the town hall for a period of 3 weeks. If no one objected to the marriage then they could then get married.
Information Found in Pubblicazioni Records
There is a lot of useful information that can be found in the Pubblicazioni record that can help you trace your family history. Listed below is the information that can be extracted from Pubblicazioni records:

- Marital Status of groom (never married or widower)
- Status of father (living or deceased)
- Full name of Mother
- Status of mother (living or deceased)
- Name, age and profession of bride
- Marital Status of bride never married or widow)

- Status of mother (living or deceased)
- Names, ages and professions of witnesses who may be relatives of the couple
Pubblicazioni Translation
Pubblicazioni records changed slightly through the decades, however, they all give the same basic information (listed above) and varied only slightly. Below is a basic translation of what the Pubblicazioni documents say.

They have requested me to make the publication of marriage in this office which they intend to celebrate, these newlyweds ______(groom name) and ________(bride name) and they have declared that the groom was born in _________(town name) the bride in _____________(town name). They do _(not)____ have an adoptive father or adoptive mother, there are not any impediments of relationship or affinity obstructing their marriage, nor any impediment according to the law. These declarations are verified by taking an oath in the legal form from, ____________(witness name), ________(age), ____________(occupation), son of ________________(father's name) and _______________(witness name)________(age), ___________(occupation), son of _____________(father's name), both residing in the town, witnesses present at the act. I examined the documents presented to me and provided my approval, inserteds in the volume of annexed records to this register, declaring that the publication will be made in ________________(town name). The documents are: the copy of the birth record of the groom issued by: _____________. (The rest of this document is a list of documents presented which will vary by individual and a notation that the parents were present (if not deceased) and they approve of the marriage. It includes their signatures or a notation that they could not sign because they are illiterate.
Pubblicazioni Transcriptions
Available here currently are some transcriptions for Pubblicazioni's done in Montalto Uffugo. Eventually I hope to have all years available from the LDS records.
