The Birth Acts
The birth acts are not birth certificates. They are better. An Italian birth certificate only gives the baby's name, date and time of birth, etc. It does not give any family information such as parent's names or place born (other than town name). The integral birth act gives baby's name, date and time of birth, mother's name, father's name, parents ages, location of birth (sometimes an exact address is given), both parents occupations and often more. There are usually 3 witnesses that are either family or close friends.

Back to TopBirth Act Transcriptions
Currently I do not have complete years trascribed. Each year of the LDS microfilms for Montalto Uffugo contain a minimum of 300 birth acts. It will take a long time to transcribe all these records and link them here. I have transcribed hundreds of birth acts so far and will link them below. I have some partial years transcribed, but at the moment the majority will be linked by surname.
The record transcriptions with links to a copy of the record currently available are listed below. Please note that all of the links will take you to another website. Some are still on the old website and some are on the new Cosenza Exchange website. The Cosenza Exchange is a new site created solely to house the records of several towns in Cosenza Province. Please click your browser's "back" button to return here or follow the link to return to our home page.
