Domenico Enrico Napolitano

Napolitano coat of armsDomenico Enrico Napolitano was born on the 16th of May 1869 in Montalto Uffugo to Filippo Napolitano and Caterina Nicastro. He was the 10th child out of 11 born to his parents. He went by his middle name Enrico and lived a very short life.

On July 28, 1889 Enrico married Angelina Napolitano. Angelina was called Angela by family and friends. At the time they married Enrico was 20 and Angela was 18. Enrico owned his own farm in Parantoro and was a farmer. They had a vineyard on the farm and made wine. The wine was brought to neighboring towns including Paola and sold. Enrico and Angela worked hard on their farm. In April of 1891 Angela gave birth to their first child, a son they named Giuseppe. But the child did not live long and died in December of the same year. Angela became pregnant again and on November 11, 1892 she gave birth to another son and named him Giuseppe. A little more than 2 years later in January 1895 Angela and Enrico had a daughter and named her Maria Agnesa. In April, little Maria Agnesa died and one month later, Enrico Napolitano died at the age of 26. The 24 year old Angela was a widow with a young son and a farm to care for all alone.

Angela Napolitano

Angela Napolitano was the youngest child born to Constantino Napolitano and Pasqualina Aiello in 1871. Her oldest brother Vincenzo was 22 years older than her. She grew up on the farm of her father and would have been taught how to farm. Her mother who was born into a family of tailors and seamstresses probably would have taught her to sew. She married at 18 and was a widow by the age of 24. She remained on the farm of her husband and struggled to raise her son and do all the chores required to keep the farm going alone until January of 1898 when she took her second husband, Raffaele DeSeta. She would give birth to 6 more children with him. Angela died in Decemeber, 1907 shortly after the birth of her last child at the age of 36.
